FRIDAY STYLE TIP: WHERE WILL THE HEM HIT?

Happy Friday!  Today's tip is a correction of something I see people doing wrong all the time and is intended to save you time in the dressing room.

Lace Dress Drawing - $20
High Strung Hippie, Etsy

When you're shopping for a dress, and you want to have an idea of where the hem will fall on you, don't just haphazardly hold the hanger up near the top of your arms…ish.  Make sure the seam of the dress is level with your shoulder bone -- not your collarbone.  It really does make a difference of at least an inch.

Just because a dress's hem falls at an ok spot on you, of course, doesn't necessarily mean it's the dress for you.  Head on in the dressing room and try it on.  But if you already know that the hemline is too short (or long), don't bother!

By the way, I wish someone would actually make the gorgeous dress pictured above.  Check it out on Etsy from High Strung Hippie.

I strive to make wardrobe choices clear and easy for women who are short on time, overwhelmed by their closets, or transitioning from one period of life to another.  Let's connect!

  1. You are right, someone needs to create the dress from the drawing. It's beautiful!
