I am never hard-pressed to find some really amazing celebrity (or street) fashion moments, but it always seems like the most jaw-dropping and/or noteworthy sightings happen when I'm out of town, enjoying my time away from computers, newspapers, and "real life." Such was the case last week, when I was at the beach spending time with family. Apparently, every celebrity got it right at the exact moment I wasn't looking. I'm all caught up now, so with my apologies for posting ensembles you may have already admired, here are some of my picks for last week's best dressed (in no particular order).
1. Miranda Kerr rarely skips a week on my personal "Best Dressed" list, but this Roland Mouret stunner is perfect! It shows off her curves, and the neckline takes it from pristine to a bit edgy. I also love her choice of shoes. The white really puts a little life into a colorless ensemble.
2. Cate Blanchett nailed it at the
Blue Jasmine premier in this black and white Alexander McQueen gown. It is elegant and classy (as is her norm), but not at all understated. Doesn't she look statuesque?
3. Sandra Bullock has had a few misses in her day, but I think she gets it right when she's just herself. She looks so comfortable and confident in this Roland Mouret dress. The shape is amazing! It looks pretty simple from the front, but the back is unexpectedly black. She looks fantastic!
4. Jessica Chastain is so striking in this dreamy dress by Dolce and Gabbana. Every girl wants one just like this! The beautiful red lace and her red lips are perfect against that porcelain skin. The length of this one could make it hard to get the shoes right, but I think barely there metallic was a great choice. My only quibble is that it shows off a slightly-too-realistic silhouette of her lady parts, lovely as they are. But listen, I can get over it. Over it.
5. Of course, no list would be complete without mentioning
Kate Middleton's fashionable exit from the hospital. The Jenny Packham dress really is cute, but what I think people like most is that it is very appropriate for the occasion. She looks comfortable, modest, and mom-esque, without venturing anywhere near "mom jeans" territory. We all also appreciate the
nod to Princess Diana's polka dotted post-partum attire. Up top, Kate.
What do you think? Do you agree with my picks? Have others to add to my list? I'd love to hear about it in the comments.
